What happened to booth (his killer)?As the nation mourned the Union soldiers were on the hunt for Booth. He fled the country with his side kick David Herold. This pair then stopped at the home of Samuel Mudd. They then met up with Thomas A. Jones to get refuge. The pair arrived to Virginia and stayed in a farmhouse. On April 26 the Union troops surrounded the hideout. A sergeant ended up shooting Booth in the neck. Four of Booth's conspirators were convicted for their participation in Lincoln's assassination. On July 7, 1865 these 4 were executed and hung. These conspirators included David Herold and Mary Surratt.
